As Revelation 19:7 tells us, the Lord becomes our Bridegroom, and the saved believers become His bride and take part in the marriage supper of the Lamb. That we, who are created beings, are called to become the bride of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is truly a great blessing. That is why Scripture says, “Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.”
On this earth, we also marry and form families. A family is meant to be a place where we can taste the joy and happiness of Heaven in advance. However, in reality, many families struggle because of conflict, wounds, and indifference.
The Bible teaches that if someone claims to love God but cannot love the family members closest to them, that love is not genuine. True love for the Lord must first be revealed within the family.
One believer’s testimony illustrates this well. While living with a husband who did not believe in God and stayed at home all day, this sister decided to change her discomfort into love. Though their financial situation was not easy, she served her husband with the food he enjoyed and consistently prepared his bed with care before going to overnight prayer meetings, continuing her acts of love without change.
When her heart changed, everything changed. What once felt heavy became light, and what felt like duty became joy. Though her husband still does not believe, his heart opened, their conversations deepened, and he began to support church matters.
The family is a place where we practice life in Heaven. The happiness of Heaven is not only for the future, but something we can begin to experience within our families on this earth.
To make our homes like Heaven, we must ask ourselves honest questions. Am I someone who seeks comfort, or someone who gives comfort? Do I expect to be loved, or do I choose to pour out love?
We can decorate our families with the treasures of Heaven. Those treasures are love that does not seek its own benefit, sacrifice, and service.
