The Difference Between the Word and Prophecy

The Difference Between the Word and Prophecy

There are people who believe in the Word of God, and there are people who hold on to prophecy. On the outside, both seem to believe in God, but their focus is different.

Those who hold on to prophecy, look at what will happen. They think about the future, what God will do, and what results will come. In their hearts, they already have a picture: “This must happen.”

This also appears clearly in the Bible. The people of Israel waited for the Messiah for a long time. They believed that God would send a Savior, and when He came, their nation would be restored and their lives would change. So when Jesus came, many people followed Him. They saw miracles, healing, and received food, and they had expectations.

But as time passed, a problem appeared. The way of Jesus was different from what they expected. The people wanted results, but Jesus spoke about repentance and inner change. Then people began to leave. In the end, they shouted to crucify Him.

The reason is clear. They waited for prophecy, but they did not accept the Word.

At this point, we must examine ourselves. We may think we are waiting for God, but in reality, we may be waiting for the results that we want.

Today, we are not very different. We say we believe in God, but in our hearts, we already decide the outcome. “This will happen.” “This will be done.” “My life will turn out this way.” Many times, this is not God’s Word, but our own expectation.

In fact, it is our plan. But we believe in it as if it were prophecy.

Some people even need God, but not because they love Him. They need God to achieve their own plans. They seek God so that their business will succeed, their life will prosper, and things will go their way.

Instead of following God, they try to fit God into their own plan.

This may look like faith, but in reality, it becomes a life that uses God instead of following Him.

So when things go well, they give thanks. When things do not go well, their hearts are shaken. This is not a Word-centered faith, but a result-centered faith.

But what God has given us is more important than prophecy. That is the Word. The Word does not focus on what will happen, but on how we should live. The purpose of the Word is not to change events, but to change people.

Faith begins here. Faith is not waiting for a fixed result. It begins when we live according to the Word. When we live by the Word, God works in our lives. He shows us, and He gives us faith.

Then the waiting becomes different. It is no longer “this must happen,” but trusting that God will do His work.

In the end, the important thing is not what happens, but whether we are living according to the Word. When we live by the Word of God, we meet God.

If we hold on to prophecy, we keep looking at the future. But if we hold on to the Word, our lives are changed now. And in that change, we truly experience God.

    Praise the lord everyone 🙏🏻
Through this message today I learned that what is the Difference Between the Word and Prophecy!

Today we say that I believe in God and God’s work but more than that we hold on to prophecy.
On the outside it seems that we believe in God but in our hearts our focus is different.
If we hold on to prophecy, look at what will happen. We think about the future, what God will do, and what results will come.
We need to examine that, Are were waiting for our Lord? or Are we waiting the results that we want?
When we hold on the word of God our lives are changed and we grow more n more in Christ and will reap good fruits (rewards)
    Hallelujah!
When we totally depend on word of God we don’t need to worry about our future and when we love according to the word of God we meet our God who is in paradise.

    Amen
