Passover was originally a feast of Israel. So we may wonder:
“Isn’t Passover just part of Israel’s history?”
“What does an event from the Old Testament have to do with me today?”
“How is it connected to Jesus and my salvation?”
But the Bible does not present Passover merely as an Israelite festival. Passover is an Old Testament shadow that points forward to Jesus Christ. And Jesus is the New Testament reality that the shadow was pointing to.
The people of Israel had been living as slaves in Egypt for a long time. God sent Moses to Pharaoh in order to deliver them and said:
“Let my people go.”
But Pharaoh did not listen to God’s word. He tried to keep the Israelites under his power.
So God brought ten plagues upon Egypt. These plagues were not ordinary natural disasters. They were signs showing that Moses’ message was not merely human words, but the command of the living God.
The water turned into blood. Plagues of frogs, gnats, and flies came upon the land. Livestock died. Boils, hail, locusts, and darkness followed. Yet in the midst of these plagues, God set apart and protected the land of Goshen, where the Israelites lived. This made it clear that these events were not accidents, but acts of God.
Still, Pharaoh hardened his heart even after seeing God’s power. Finally, the tenth plague came: the death of the firstborn.
At that time, God gave the Israelites one way of protection. They were to sacrifice a lamb without defect and put its blood on the doorframes of their houses.
God said:
“When I see the blood, I will pass over you.”
Exodus 12:13
That night, judgment came upon all the land of Egypt. In the houses without the blood, there was a great cry of sorrow. But the houses marked with the blood of the lamb were spared from death. This is Passover.
The Israelites were not saved because they were better than the Egyptians.
They were not saved because they were more righteous.
Their houses were not spared because they were greater or more worthy.
There was only one reason:
The blood of the lamb was on their houses.
Therefore, the heart of Passover is the blood of the lamb. The judgment of death came near every house, but the houses covered by the lamb’s blood were protected.
This Passover lamb was a shadow pointing to Jesus. When John the Baptist saw Jesus, he said:
“Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”
John 1:29
And 1 Corinthians 5:7 says:
“For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.”
This clearly connects Passover with Jesus.
The lamb in Exodus was the shadow.
Jesus is the reality.
Just as the blood of the lamb delivered Israel from the judgment of death, the blood of Jesus delivers us from the judgment of sin and death.
Here we see how precise God’s plan is. Passover did not happen by chance. Through the Exodus, God was already showing the cross of Jesus Christ in advance. The lamb, the blood, the judgment of death, and the deliverance all pointed forward to Jesus.
God’s plan of salvation was not accidental or sudden. It was prepared long before and fulfilled with perfect purpose.
So Passover is not just an Israelite feast that has nothing to do with us. Passover is part of God’s plan of salvation, showing us the cross of Jesus in advance.
Just as Israel was delivered from death and freed from Egypt through the blood of the lamb, we are saved from sin and death through the blood of Jesus.
The Passover in the Old Testament was the shadow, and Jesus is the fulfillment of that shadow.
As the blood of the Passover lamb saved Israel, the precious blood of Jesus Christ saves us today.
All those who believe in Lord Jesus will be saved. Therefore, we must place our trust in Lord Jesus in every situation. We are all covered by the blood of Lord Jesus. Thank You, Father; all honor and glory belong to the Lord.

Today through this QT I realised that there is our relationship with the Passover.
Today I learned that the shedding of Jesus Christ’s blood was not without purpose…. it is connected to Passover. In the Old Testament, the homes whose doorposts were marked with the blood of the lamb were protected. In the same way, according to the New Testament, Jesus Christ shed His blood for us, and His blood now covers us. Therefore, we too are protected and saved through His sacrifice.
