Biblical Patience 1: Patience in Our Relationships

Suppressing Anger and Loving Without Giving Up on People

“Love is patient, love is kind… it keeps no record of wrongs.” 1 Corinthians 13:4–5

I used to think that I was a patient person.

Even when I was angry, I controlled my words, facial expressions, and actions. I remained calm and acted as if nothing was wrong. So I thought:
“I did not become angry. I was patient.”
“I controlled myself because I cared about the other person.”

However, when I examined my heart before the Lord, I realized that this was not the true patience described in the Bible.

I remained silent, but I kept a record of the other person’s wrongs in my heart. My discomfort and resentment did not disappear. I merely held back the words that had risen to my lips.

When something similar happened again, all the anger I had stored inside suddenly came out.
“Do you know how much I have endured because of you?”
“You have always been like this.”

Looking back, these words were not evidence of patience. I had recorded the person’s wrongs in my heart and then used them all at once to attack that person.

I was not truly patient. I was hiding my anger while pretending to be gentle.

If We Remain Silent, Does It Mean We Are Patient?

It is necessary to control our words and actions instead of pouring out our anger. This can be the beginning of patience.

However, remaining silent does not mean that our hearts are patient. If we continue to judge and resent someone in our hearts, we have only controlled our outward behavior.

The Bible says that love “keeps no record of wrongs.”

Love does not keep a record of another person’s wrongs in the heart.

Of course, remembering a wrong is not always sinful. We may need to be careful so that the same harm does not happen again. Sometimes we must clearly address the wrong or keep an appropriate distance.

However, if we repeatedly bring up past wrongs and use them as weapons to condemn and attack someone, we have not forgiven that person in our hearts.

Love does not pretend that nothing wrong happened, but neither does it use the wrong to hurt the person again.

Patience Without Resentment

Patience without resentment does not mean that the other person has done nothing wrong. The wrong may be real, but we do not need to suppress hatred or a desire for revenge because these things are no longer ruling our hearts.

We should correct wrong behavior with love. However, we should not hate the person, repay evil with evil, or judge that person’s entire future by their present condition.

Think of a child who repeatedly makes the same mistake. Loving parents correct the child, but they do not say:

“You will never change.”
“I am giving up on you.”

They give the child another opportunity and wait for the child to grow. They do not blindly trust the child’s present behavior. They believe that the child can change in the future.

Spiritual patience is the same. We do not easily give up on people because we believe that God can change them.

Jesus said: “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy times seven.” Matthew 18:22

This does not mean that we must accept every wrong without correction. We should correct what is wrong, but we should not hate or easily give up on the person who did it.

True patience is not forcing ourselves to suppress anger. It is refusing to keep a record of someone’s wrongs and lovingly waiting because we believe that the person can change through God. We wait because we believe, and we do not give up because we love.

Today’s Reflection

Have I believed that I was patient simply because I did not express my anger?

Whose wrongs am I still keeping in the record book of my heart?

Instead of giving up on that person today, let us pray and believe that God can bring change.

  4. I used to think the same before when I was a small child just learning about the world that being patient means being quiet and waiting for my turn but later I learned that there is so much more to being patient which I learned from my parents, my family and through this message. Being patient isn’t just stating that you are patient by waiting for a while. It reflects trusting in God’s perfect timing and showing the same long suffering and grace toward others that God shows toward humanity. We shouldn’t keep the anger and hatred in our hearts in the name of being patient. Instead we should forgive and show love and kindness and give people a chance to grow from their mistakes. Everything goes according to God’s will.

This message is all about the Patience. And through this message I got to know about the true meaning of Patience.
Today this message made me realised that yes, I used to get angery. When somebody used to day something which I didn’t like then I used to show anger or get angery. And sometimes I didn’t show anger but there was anger inside my heart and today I got know that if we’re are showing anger but still we don’t like the second person becoz of something and we think that, we have Patience becoz, we didn’t show anger or didn’t say anything. So here, we are wrong becoz, true meaning of Patience is not about to not showing anger, it’s about to love others n don’t get angery and don’t hate anybody.

Thank you Lord for this blessed message
    🌷

    Amen

Maine aaj ke Sandesh se Sikha ki Dhairya kya hai pahle mujhe lagta tha ki chup Rahana aur sab Kuchh Sah Lena Dhairya ka Pratik hai bal ki asa nahi hai Ham Samne wale vyakti ko Maaf Nahin Karte bus uski sari baten Apne andar rakhte hain aur jab Hamen gussa Aata Hai To Ham sari Baton ko bol Dete Hain
Par aaj ke Sandesh se Humne Sikha ki asali Dhairya kya hai
Agar Ham asali Mein dhairyawan Hai To Ham dusron se Prem Karenge aur Unki galtiyon Ko Yad Nahin Rakhenge aur unhen Maaf Karenge

Praise the Lord this message is beautiful.
We should not show the anger and love the people. Sometimes we don’t show anger but, if we keep things in our hearts that’s not good. As Jesus loved everybody we also have to love everyone. We have to forgive others and understand them.

    Amen

  13. This post is truly heart-touching. Reading Patience in Our Relationships – Biblical Patience 1 made me realize the profound difference between merely staying quiet on the outside and having true spiritual patience.

My own experience was that I always thought remaining silent during anger was patience. But inside, I kept holding onto bitterness and keeping a record of wrongs, which would eventually burst out later over something else. When I reflected on the immense love and patience Jesus Christ has toward us, I realized how merciful and longsuffering He is. I deeply desire to become like Him, to walk in the spirit, and to take on the mind and attitude of Christ.

My heart’s longing is to transform into Jesus’ likeness so that I may dwell with the Trinity God in the New Jerusalem forever—a place of unending love, joy, peace, and eternal enjoyment. Thank you so much for sharing this inspiring and eye-opening message!

mene mbstudy se sikha ki kabhi kabhi hamre ander itna krodh hota hai ki use ham bahar nahi laa sakte ham us krodh ko ander hi ander daba k rakhte hai jab hame gussa aaye to ham apne haday ko prabhu k samne rakhe or prathan kare prabhu hamre jivan ko badale or hamre gusse ko dur kar sake hame apne vyvhar ko badalna hai or ham kisi se bhi buray ka badla buray se nahi le sakte ham parmeswar k dwara hamre jivan ko badal na hai hame visvash karna hai or hamre jivan ko badal na hai hamre ander Prem nahi rehta to ham kisi se bhi Prem nahi rakh paayege parntu krodh hii rahega is liye hame krodh ko dur karna hai Amen

Thank you for the beautiful message…

Thinking of how Jesus loved everyone and stayed with them till the end, gives me hope and strength…
Jesus knew people will deceive him, judas will deceive him but he tried his very best till the end…

In 2026, my goal is also to broaden my heart more with Holy Spirit’s help and save so many souls without thinking whether they deceive me or not just like the Lord and I know 100% my rewards in Heaven are so much higher and bigger and my God will call my name in front of all people to show his love and kindness for me…

It is such a great blessing when people suddenly change and start to say wrong things because thats how we are clearly seen as true disciples of the Lord and receive so many rewards from God not only in Heaven but also on this earth…
Surely, God is good all the time, All the time He is good…

Thank you dear Heavenly Father and My Saviour Lord Jesus Christ for continually blessing and holding us…
We are nothing without you and saving souls is also not for anyone else’s happiness or sake but only yours….

  16. Praise the lord everyone 🙏
It’s very amazing Verse because it tells us that remaining silent is not patience…Patience means forgiving others instead of recording other’s persons wrongs in my heart.
From today onwards, I will try to forgive other’s.. And pray to god (Jesus) that help me to control my anger and the habit to taking revenge. Amen 🙏
