In 2019, my son Shrinjoy turned three, but he could hardly speak beyond saying “Mom” and “Dad.” His responses were slow, and he rarely made eye contact. We took him to the hospital and were told that he had autism spectrum disorder. Hearing this felt as if the sky had collapsed. I could not imagine my child’s future, and each day was filled with fear and sorrow.
While going through this painful time, I came across Gospel messages on YouTube. At first, I attended worship only in a formal way. Still, a small hope began to grow in my heart that God might help our family.
In 2020, when my son entered kindergarten, his condition became more noticeable. He stayed alone, did not respond when called, and rarely spoke. The school and doctors recommended special education. The thought of sending my child to a special school was deeply painful for me as a mother.
At that point, my husband and I realized there was nowhere else to rely on. We began to turn to God and pray earnestly for our son’s healing. As we listened to the Word, we started to reflect more seriously on our life of faith.
As I longed for my son’s healing, I began to meditate more deeply on the Word. Instead of focusing only on my child’s condition, I started to look at myself before God. I carefully examined my life, asking whether there was anything I needed to correct as a parent and as a believer, quietly wondering, “Could this be one of those cases?” As I reflected on the teaching of the [Second Commandment], I looked more honestly at my priorities and my relationship with God.
Through this process, I became aware of my shortcomings and repented sincerely. I tried to restore a sincere attitude toward worship and realign my life before God.
Later, I experienced God’s grace personally when a long-standing pain in my arm gradually recovered through prayer. This strengthened my faith and deepened my hope for my son’s healing. Over time, my prayers changed. I no longer prayed only for my son, but also that our family would stand rightly before God. I was able to let go of long-held resentment, and my husband also humbled himself before God. We began to pray together with one heart.
After a period of focused prayer, changes began to appear. One day, when I called “Shrinjoy,” he looked at me and responded. He started answering questions and gradually forming sentences. Seeing this, I felt that our prayers were being answered.
Neighbors noticed the change in him, and our family rejoiced together. More importantly, faith grew in our home, and our trust in God became deeper. Through this journey, I learned that healing is not only about outward change, but about honestly standing before God and allowing His Word to shape our lives. I give all thanks and glory to God, who guided us through His Word and gave us hope.
