Receiving answers from God requires true faith and action. The Bible teaches us that faith is not only believing in the heart, but also showing faith through obedience and trust in God.
Set Up a “Steps of Faith”
In Mark 2, we read about a paralytic man who was carried by his friends to Jesus. Because of the crowd, they could not enter the house. So they opened the roof and lowered the man down to Jesus.
The friends believed that Jesus could heal him, and their faith pushed them to take action. Because of this faith, the man received healing.
In the same way, to receive answers from God, we must set up a “Steps of faith.”
This means we must not only pray, but also act in faith as the Holy Spirit leads us.
Sometimes this may include:
- Fasting
- All-night prayer
- Evangelism
- Helping others
- Charity and voluntary service
When we show our faith through action, God gives spiritual faith from above.
Faith Must Have Works
If a sick person has not yet accepted Jesus, they must first hear the Word of God and have faith as knowledge. Using that faith, they can come to God and receive healing.
Even believers sometimes face serious sickness or accidents. At such times, they should examine their lives and see whether they are obeying God’s basic commands, such as:
- Keeping the Lord’s Day holy
- Honoring God with tithes
The Bible says:
“Faith without works is dead” (James 2:26).
Without obedience, it becomes difficult to receive answers.
Remove the Barrier of Sin
Even if we prepare the prop of faith, sin can become a barrier between God and us.
Isaiah 59:1–2 says that sin separates us from God. Sin can weaken our faith and allow Satan to bring doubts, fear, and negative thoughts into our minds.
That is why Jesus said to the paralytic man:
“Son, your sins are forgiven” (Mark 2:5) — before healing him.
However, do not lose heart. God is merciful.
If we:
- Confess our sins honestly
- Turn away from sin
- Walk in the light
Then the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7–9).
God removes our sins as far as the east is from the west.
Receive Spiritual Faith from God
Jesus later said to the paralytic:
“Get up, take your mat and go home” (Mark 2:11).
The man and his friends did their part by setting up the prop of faith.
Jesus added spiritual faith, and the miracle happened instantly.
When spiritual faith comes from God:
- Fear disappears
- Worry and anxiety leave
- Peace fills the heart
- We receive confidence that God has answered
Learn to Wait on God
One important thing to remember is patience.
We should not act carelessly or speak negatively when results delay. Even if we pray and fast, we must still wait for God’s timing.
True faith trusts God fully and waits until He gives spiritual faith from above.
The answer comes at the exact time God decides.
