Some people say, “Pastor, I am suffering because of bad thoughts. How can I control my thoughts?” This is truly a spiritual battle.
Our thoughts are not neutral. Our thoughts are influenced by God, or by our sinful nature and darkness. The Bible says there are two realms: the Spirit and the flesh. The Spirit means the truth of God. The flesh means sinful human nature. Spiritual thoughts lead us to love, serve, forgive, and help others. But fleshly thoughts lead us to anger, hatred, jealousy, greed, and selfish desires.
Becoming like Jesus is not only about outward behavior. Our inner thoughts must also become like the thoughts of Jesus. God does not only see our actions. God sees our hearts and our thoughts. The Bible says, anyone who hates his brother has already murdered in his heart. Hatred begins as a thought. Then it grows. Then it appears in words and actions. This is how sin begins. Jesus said that sin begins in the heart. This means we must remove the sinful roots inside our hearts. This is the meaning of “cut the skin of your heart.”
Jesus wore the crown of thorns because of our sins. He was nailed to the cross because of our sins. Sin is never a small matter. Sin begins in our thoughts and leads to death.
Genesis 3:6 shows us how sin begins. The woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food, pleasing to the eye, and desirable for gaining wisdom. First she saw. Then she listened. Then she thought. Then she acted. Thought begins from what we see and hear. What we watch, what we listen to, and what we imagine shape our thoughts and our character. That is why we must be careful about movies, games, and media. Violent movies or immoral movies plant violence and darkness in our hearts. Games that involve killing make us insensitive to blood and hatred. Pictures and symbols in our homes also influence our character.
Newborn babies do not hate. They smile naturally because hatred has not been planted in them. But as we grow, we plant hatred in our hearts, and hatred becomes our natural reaction because of our environment. If there is no hatred in our hearts, even difficult situations will not make us hate. This is what it means to cut the skin of the heart.
We cannot change ourselves by our own effort. We need the help of the Holy Spirit. Change belongs to the Holy Spirit. Most people do not know what is inside their hearts. Not only hatred, but many sinful thoughts are hidden inside us. We must fight seriously against sin. We must not tolerate sinful thoughts. We are soldiers of Jesus Christ. We must fight the battle of thoughts. When hatred or anger rises in your heart, repent immediately. Change that thought into love, understanding, and forgiveness. The Holy Spirit helps us and guides us. And finally, we want our thoughts, hearts, and character to become like Jesus Christ. This is the good fight.

Whenever bad thoughts come in our mind we must pray ask to God to help through Holy spirit…..
