I Know the Word, So Why Haven’t I Met God?

When you learn to ride a bicycle, you cannot ride it simply by reading a book and knowing the theory. Knowing is not enough. You must actually get on the bicycle and ride. At first, you cannot keep your balance. You move forward for a moment, and then you fall. The same is true with God’s Word. It is not enough to understand it. It must be practiced. Knowing and doing are different.

Riding a bicycle feels difficult in the beginning because our thinking is different from the real principle. When you begin to lean to the left, you must turn the handle to the left to straighten yourself. But instinctively, we turn the handle in the opposite direction because we are afraid of falling. It feels safer to us. Yet that very choice makes us fall more quickly. Learning to ride a bicycle is the process of letting go of our own thinking and accepting the true principle. Faith works in the same way.

We fail to practice the Word not because the Word is wrong, but because it is different from our natural instincts. The Word tells us to love, to forgive, to humble ourselves, and even to take the loss first. Our instincts tell us to protect ourselves, defend our pride, and avoid loss. Our reactions seem reasonable to us, but in the end they cause us to stumble. That is why we fall into anger, pride, and judgment.

A bicycle does not move forward if it remains still. We cannot wait for someone else to push us. We must pedal ourselves. The pedal is prayer. Through prayer we receive strength to act. Prayer is not an escape from responsibility; it is the source of power that enables obedience. When we pray, “God, not my thoughts but Your Word. Holy Spirit, help me,” we receive strength. But we must then take action. We must choose love, choose forgiveness, and choose humility. Just as a bicycle moves forward when we pedal, faith moves forward when we receive strength through prayer and put the Word into practice.

Falling is part of learning. We may fall many times. But what matters is that we do not stop. We pray again. We practice again. We move forward again. Change does not happen in a single day. It happens gradually, like peeling an onion layer by layer. As we continue to practice the Word, we slowly move forward.

Faith is not theory; it is practice. It is not about knowing the Word, but about living it. If you fell today, rise again. Receive strength through prayer, practice the Word again, and move forward with greater courage. As you continue to move forward, you are walking through the process of becoming more like the Lord. And in time, you will see the fruit of answered prayers in your life.

Aap sabhi ko jai masih ki 🙏

    Amen

  5. Amen .
Today’s Short sermon is so easy to understand with the help of bicycle example.
And yes Faith is not theory but to practice .
We will fall again and again but when we move forward with courage then one day the time will come when we will bear beautiful fruits in our life .
Thankyou for the mb study .

bahut hi practical example batya yadi hum cycle chlana sikhe aur pedal hi na maare to kse hum cycle sikhege aur hum kisi aur ka intjar kre ki koi picche se dhakka mare to hum kabhi bhi sikh nhi payege aisa hi hmare jiven me hai hum prarthana na kre aur hum kahe ki me vachan ko janti hu pr fit bhi prarthna na kre to ks hme taakat milegi bina prarthna k hum taakat nhi pa sskte hai isliye hme mehnat se prarthna krna hai uske vachan ka palan krna hai

    Praise the Lord everyone!
This message teaches us that today we the the word of God but we have not met God yet
If we wanna learn something n we donot practice we just read book & we say that now I know how to do n we do we will not able to learn that becoz we have not practiced, we just read….
Same thing follow in spiritual life if we listen word of God n say I know this word of God and we donot pray n practice their how can say that we know word of God?
If we this word that Jesus said ‘if somebody slap on you right cheek then turn your left one also’ but if we don’t apply in our life then what is the mean of knowing/ listening word of God therefore we must follow in our life also.
Falling is part of learning. We may fall many times, but what matters is that we do not stop, we pray again.
We believe in our Lord God.
    Amen
