There was a church member. This person had many problems. He served faithfully and worked hard in the church. Yet, his life problems continued without change.
As I watched him, my heart felt very heavy, so I prayed for him. While praying, I began to ask myself an important question about faith.
On the outside, he said, “I believe the Lord will solve my problems.” But when I looked more closely, I realized this was not true faith. When things were hard, he became angry. When situations were difficult, he stopped coming to church. When conflicts arose, he argued with others.
Is this faith? What does it really mean to believe?
First, we believe that God is alive. We believe that Jesus Christ is our Lord. Most believers already believe these things. But faith does not stop there.
To believe means to believe in God’s promises.
Let me give an example. A friend says, “Let’s meet tomorrow at 10 a.m.” What do you do? You go on time. Why? Because you trust that your friend will come at 10.
Now think about another friend. This friend has lied many times, broken promises, and deceived others. If that friend says, “Let’s meet at 3 p.m.,” will you go? You probably will not. Even if you go, you will go with doubt. Why? Because you do not trust that person’s words.
Then what does it mean to believe in God? It means to believe in God’s promises.
God’s Word does not say that He will bless us no matter how we live. It does not say that He will answer every prayer without conditions. God’s promises are clear. He says He will answer when we come into the light. He says He will work when we obey. He says He will heal when we turn away from sin.
That is why we give up sin. Why? Because we believe that when we turn away from sin, God will respond.
This is faith.
Now I ask you this question. What do you believe?

Do we truly believe from the depths of our hearts?
Do we trust in God’s promises?
Do we understand how the promises He has made will be fulfilled?
Do we live our lives according to those promises?
And do we walk in alignment with the will of God….?
We much ask this question this ourselves that what do we believe?
