People often think they are a good person if they do not break the law and do not commit crimes. The standard of the world is usually simple: keep the law and follow what you believe is right. Because of this, criminals are called evil, and those who are not are considered relatively good. When we compare ourselves with others, we easily conclude that we are better. If someone receives a heavier punishment than we do, we think, “I am not that bad. I am a good person.”
However, this is not God’s standard. If we truly want to understand what it means to be a good person, we must look beyond human judgment and see from God’s point of view. Only when we understand how God measures goodness can we begin to change.
According to the Bible, goodness is not only about outward behavior. Living according to God’s Word is important, but God’s standard goes deeper. God does not look only at what we do. He looks at the heart and discerns good and evil from within. This is where God’s standard of goodness is completely different from the world’s standard.
In the world, a person is called good if they do not fight and do not show anger. But in reality, people still get angry and argue. Even if outward behavior appears calm and polite, the heart may still be filled with resentment, jealousy, or hidden anger. From God’s perspective, this cannot be called true goodness. God sees beyond appearance. He looks at what is inside us. Even if we smile and act kindly, if there is hatred or bitterness in the heart, it does not meet God’s standard of goodness.
Sometimes people suppress their emotions because of personality or social expectations. They appear patient in public, but at home they release their anger toward their family. This reveals the true condition of the heart. Before God, goodness is not measured by how we behave in front of others, but by what remains in our heart in every situation.
Then what is true goodness according to God? It is the ability to forgive, understand, and love, even when it is difficult. When someone misunderstands or hurts you, you do not respond in the same way, but choose patience and forgiveness. When you are tired or under pressure, you do not react with frustration, but continue to speak and act with love. Even when it brings personal loss, you choose to care for others and help them. This reflects God’s standard of goodness.
When this kind of goodness is practiced, it does not remain hidden. It naturally influences others. Like a fragrance, it spreads and reaches people’s hearts. In families and workplaces, people begin to notice something different. They may say, “When I see your life, I want to believe in God.” A life shaped by goodness and love has the power to change people.
There are real examples of this. A husband who drank heavily and mistreated his wife was changed by her response. Before, they argued and reacted in the same way. But after she began to live according to her faith, she chose to understand him, comfort him, and respond with love. Over time, her consistent attitude touched his heart. He began to see the difference and eventually chose to come to church and believe in God. This is how true goodness works—it transforms others through life, not just words.
The same principle applies in the workplace. Even when no one recognizes it, a person continues to choose honesty, avoids speaking negatively about others, and faithfully fulfills responsibilities. Though it may involve sacrifice, this consistent choice builds trust. Eventually, others recognize it and say, “This person is different.” That difference becomes a starting point for change in others.
The highest expression of goodness is to give one’s life for others. This is the ultimate standard that Jesus Christ has shown. His life reveals what true goodness looks like—not just outward actions, but a heart of complete sacrifice and love.
So, what does it mean to be a good person? It is not defined by comparison with others or by outward behavior alone. It is defined by God’s standard, which begins in the heart. As we reflect on this question, we are invited to examine ourselves honestly. When we pursue a heart that aligns with God’s Word, we begin to grow in true goodness. And as we become more like Christ in heart, we move closer to a life that is united with Him.

I examined myself that Am I a good person or a bad person? After reading n understand this message I realised that yes…I am not a perfect person before God. Today through this message I examined myself that what is my behaviour?
We think that we are a good person because with others we talk with politeness and donot show anger so we are good. But this is not goodness before God, becoz he doesn’t see our outward appearance/qualities, he sees our inner qualities, our hearts.
Hello accepts our hearts not our physical appearance.
If we are not showing anger, but if still there is anger, jealousy, resentment in our hearts then this is not acceptable before God.
According to the Bible goodness means living according to God’s word. So, what does it mean to be a good person? When we pursue a heart that aligns with God’s Word, we begin to grow in true goodness. Our hearts start to change according to God’s word.

यह संदेश सच्ची भलाई के विषय में है जो परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में क्या सत्य है हम मनुष्य बाहरी प्रकटी करण को देखते है और हमे लगता हैं कि हम तो भलाई कर रहे हैं लेकिन हमारे परमेश्वर हर समय हमारे हृदय को जांचते है कि हमारा सोचना हमारा बोलना हमारे हृदय में क्या चल रहा होता हैं जब वचन पर रख कर हम खुद को देखे तो सच मे पिता परमेश्वर की भलाई उच्च स्तर की भलाई है जिससे हम अभी काफी दूत हैं

यह वचन सिखाता हैं कि, हमें सांसारिक तौर तरीके नहीं बल्कि आत्मिक वचनों का पालन करना है, अगर हम बाहरी रूप से धैर्यवान या संयमी दिखते हैं, तो भी इसका मतलब यह नहीं कि हम एक भले मनुष्य, एक भला मनुष्य वह है जो प्रभु के वचनों को सुनता है उनका पालन करता है दूसरों के प्रति प्रेम रखता है।
